How Majlis Provides An Informal Space For Professional Development And Recently Addressed The Intersectionality Of Race And Gender?
At the beginning of 2018, Embassy Abu Dhabi Economic Counselor Alison Dilworth launched a Women’s Majlis Series (WMS) with senior diplomatic women from embassies around the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The original idea was to create an informal space for diplomatic women in the UAE to come together, to empower and strengthen one another.
Private Seating Areas
The Women’s Majlis Abu Dhabi has become a fixture in the UAE diplomatic calendar, providing a wonderful venue for women to engage with one another and to maximize opportunities for professional development. Recently, the WMS Board took an innovative approach to addressing the intersectionality of race and gender by bringing in women from Mexico City, Islamabad, and Abu Dhabi who shared their career journeys and the challenges they faced based on race and gender.
Throughout the month of Ramadan, the Madinat Jumeirah Al Majlis restaurant will transform into a lavish majlis for iftar and suhoor. With twinkling lights, chandeliers, and extensive use of mirrors, the main dining room has a distinctly Arab feel. There are four private majlis seating areas that can be reserved exclusively for larger groups.
Conveniently Located Near Attractions
There are also a number of options for guests to experience the traditional majlis setting outside of the hotel. Qasr Al Watan’s Al Barza majlis, for example, welcomes visitors for the first time since the palace opened in 2019.
Rosewood Abu Dhabi has an elegant Majlis In Abu Dhabi lounge with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the water. It offers a glamorous selection of themed afternoon tea, including English tea and vegan options. It is the perfect gathering spot to spend the day with friends or family.
The hotel is located in the heart of the city and within walking distance of major business and shopping destinations. It features 3 food and beverage outlets, 5 conference and meeting rooms, a Club lounge, a Business center, a heated swimming pool, hot tub sauna, steam bath, and a gym.
Important Social & Political Venues
It is the perfect choice for business and leisure travellers alike, with its location in a cosmopolitan city. It is home to a variety of exciting attractions such as the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, sand dunes of the ancient desert, and the stunning Emirates Palace.
A visit to Qasr Al Watan’s majlis will teach visitors more about the role of majlis meetings. The majestic space can accommodate up to 300 guests and is decorated with impressive chandeliers and golden finishings.
The majlis is a large seated area that serves as a social and political forum for the local community. It is where elders and leaders gather to discuss matters, exchange news, receive guests, pay condolences and hold wedding receptions.
In the Arabian Peninsula, majalis were important social and political venues where members of the community could gather to address issues of the day. They were often run by tribes and communities. These sessions often included poetry recitals, storytelling and discussions on a variety of topics.
Conclusion:
Today, majlis meetings continue to play an important role in the UAE’s society, especially as forums for discussion and social cohesion. They provide a place for members of the community to discuss their concerns, and to build mutual trust.
